You’re ready to ditch the idea of a big wedding and elope somewhere cool… now what? I’ll tell you now what- you are going to book with me, your elopement best friend! For my couples that elope, I assist in researching permits, vendor recommendations and everything in between. So, are you ready?
1. Research Your Destination:
Okay, mountain people! We’ve narrowed down your elopement to the mountains but you aren’t sure which mountains exactly. There are mountains all over the world, but for this post we’ll focus on the U.S. These photos were taken in Mount Rainer, Washington, but other stunning areas are Colorado (Crested Butte, Vail), Montana (Rocky Mountains), Wyoming (Grand Tetons) and Tennessee (Great Smoky Mountains).
2. Deciding on a Time of Year:
You have your location chosen, now pick the time of year. If you go with the mountains, obviously November-March will give you cold temperatures and snow, April-October you’ll have warm(er) weather and more things blooming- think more green and flowers or color on the trees. The photo below were during mid-July!
3. Decide what your Elopement is going to look like:
Your elopement can look however you want it to. If you enjoy hiking together I am always down to hike to the top of a mountain for the ceremony and photos. If thinking about hiking or long walks up a mountain makes you immediately want to take a nap, no worries, there are plenty of places, like these photos, that require little to no hiking at all and are right off of parking lots. Keep in mind that if you are not wanting to hike, it is likely there will be more people around since the spot is of easier access to everyone.
4. Vendors:
Alright, you’ve decided on your location and time of year, now it’s time for the really fun part. If you are eloping in Colorado, you can self-solemnize. Otherwise, all of the other locations mentioned require an officiant. Then you need to think about media (photographer, content creator, videographer). You can inquire here with me and it will likely be a SUPER BIG discount or pay for travel only with free coverage, and then I have recommendations for every single other vendor in any area you could need!
5. Permits:
I also assist with any permits that may be needed. Especially if you are getting married in a National Park, we have some applying to do!
Big Picture
Overall, eloping is MY FAVORITE. I may be biased because I planned my own destination elopement, so if you decide to book with me, know I have done it all myself for myself and take your day just as seriously to get beautiful photos like these!
